Sermon Series: How We Thrive!
During these unprecedented times, our spiritual resources will help us to thrive. Our UU faith calls us to new ways of life, and new ways of being in relationship with each other. So much will be reborn as our resilience takes shape. Some of what has guided us before this pandemic will no longer suffice. Our strengthened faith calls us to seek deeper truth and more expansive love than we ever thought was possible. It will be hard, we know, and the road will be muddy and rough but we’ll get there.
We know we will.
During these worship series, we will offer a take-home spiritual practice to get you through until next Sunday. You are invited to send photos of yourselves watching our livestream worship or lighting your at-home chalice to firstname.lastname@example.org or post on our Facebook page.
Sunday, February 2: Behind Our Walls
At the close of our “Some Walls” worship series, we will explore the ancient origins of walls — what they were designed to keep in and to keep out. After some physical and symbolic walls come down, our work is yet incomplete: We have to present alternative frames of mind and processes to ensure what those walls represented is held at bay.
Sunday, January 26: Walls of Pride Must Fall
On the cusp of a new year and new decade, may we collectively and individually offer up a prayer to deepen self-insight. How can our faith practice protect us from illusory superiority? We will explore the Dunning-Kruger Effect on our psyche, and dismantle the walls we have erected to protect us from knowing ourselves fully.
Sunday, January 12: Why We Build The Wall
We need some walls to protect ourselves, to heal, to regain security. As a covenanted community, we commit to maintaining certain boundaries. What is your relationship to covenant? How can a commitment to covenant improve your relationships, and the health of the collective?
