We are sending our love and healing thoughts to UUCA’s longtime office administrator, Sherri Wiseman. About a month-and-a-half ago, she went to the hospital for a standard medical procedure related to her heart and almost died on the table. Ever since then, her condition has been up and down—you may have been tracking this on her CaringBridge web site—but now the news is settled and clear: Sherri will be seeking a heart transplant and will be moving to Texas to do so. It means that she will not be returning to UUCA. Sherri has been struggling with heart failure ever since she was 19 years old, and now her journey takes this turn. When saw her this past week, while she was lying in her bed, hooked up to dozens of tubes and wires, she made sure to tell me how grateful she is for the people of UUCA—their thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness. And we do love her. This wonderful woman who has struggled with heart failure all her life has one of the biggest hearts in the world. We send her our love.

If you would like to be in contact with Sherri, or find out how you can be helpful to her and her family in this time, please call her sister Connie Mallory at  512-426-8784,.

Let me also say a word about where things stand right now in the office. You may not know that Travis Vaughn, besides being a genius musician, is also a genius in the office and brings 30 years of experience to that work. He is our anchor and is keeping things strong and moving forward. Members of our Finance Committee and Generosity Team and I are hard at work in searching for Scott and Sherri’s successors. I will be sure to announce any hires as soon as I make them.

We grieve the loss of Sherri and we are so grateful for how she has been in our lives.
