Project Phoenix Update
Jan 31, 2019
Under the authority granted by the congregation at the July 2017 special meeting, negotiations to extend our lease at the Tree House (1190 W Druid Hills Dr.) beyond October 31, 2019 have successfully concluded. The extension of our current lease will allow us to occupy the Treehouse for another year with two additional 6-month options, if required, until October 31, 2021. Terms of the lease are favorable with a small rent increase typical of commercial lease renewals in our area. Once the actual lease has been reviewed by the Board and executed, it will be added to the binder for review.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming presentation by our Project Phoenix partners on February 10 at 1:30 in the Sanctuary. Fiona Grandowski, Principal at Collins, Cooper, Carusi (UUCA’s architect) and Filberto Lara, Senior Project Manager at Choate Interior Construction (UUCA’s Construction Manager) will lead the presentation.
The goal of this meeting is to help congregants to improve our understanding of how our new home can be designed and built.
Our architect will tell us about her firm and describe how she has incorporated the numerous discussions and the April 2016 Facilities Study Report into the design for our new space.
Choate representatives will explain the objectives and different phases of construction management, including preconstruction estimating, permitting, hiring of subcontractors, and management of the building process.
