New Jim Crow Action Group: 7pm Wed. March 19, at the Atlanta Friends Meetinghouse
We have rescheduled Bruce Dixon’s presentation to Wednesday, March 19 on the Georgia prison strike of 2010- 2011. Bruce and one or more formerly incarcerated men will share the background and details of the strike, including the conditions that led to the strike and an update on current conditions in Georgia prisons. Bruce will also update us on the recent revival of the strike (see article below). Bruce is “a habitual troublemaker and incorrigible activist,” according to his brief bio at the Black Agenda Report, where he is managing editor. “He currently resides in Marietta GA, and is a member of the state committee of the Georgia Green Party.” (see http://www.blackagendareport.com/)
The March 19 meeting will take place at The Atlanta Friends Meetinghouse, 701 West Howard Ave, Decatur 30030 (about 1/2 mile east of the East Lake MARTA station). After the presentation and discussion, there will be an opportunity for activists against mass incarceration to describe their recent work and plans for the near future. For more information please contact Bert Skellie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 404-378-5883. Please circulate widely!
