what does uuca sound like?

UUCA has one of the most eclectic and inspiring music programs in Atlanta. On any given Sunday you can hear music ranging from Gregorian chants to musical theater, gospel to traditional, from Bach to Bob Marley. In every case, the music is performed either by our talented in-house musicians or by friends of UUCA from near and far. Check out this montage for a sampling of our offerings!

UUCA Music Montage:

the treehouse choir

The Tree House Choir is the flagship of UUCA’s music program. Around ten percent of all UUCA members come together every Wednesday evening to rehearse challenging, meaningful music and strive to create something beautiful and soul-stirring. Rehearsal takes place on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 in the Sanctuary at UUCA. There is no audition to join the choir. Please email the Director of Music, Donald Milton III, if you have any questions.

UU MOVES

UUMoves is the movement choir of UUCA. We interpret the lyrics of the music that is sung during the services with simple and connected movement. We have also included sign language and seated movement in our choreography. The movement for each piece is choreographed in a collaborative manner, with everyone who wishes to participate in the creation. The final product is one that comes from each member’s heart. Our group consists of seasoned dancers as well as those with little to no experience. The director, Elizabeth Field, truly believes that everyone can dance, as movement is a vital part of who we are. She has taught dance and movement classes in the metro Atlanta area for over 20 years in all age ranges. She invites anyone who would like to move, whether to perform or not, to join the group on Thursday evenings 6:30-7:30. Please call or email her for location and other details.

PERFORMING ARTS COORDINATING TEAM

The Performing Arts Coordinating Team (PACT), sponsors a lively series of performing arts events. Our Coffeehouse features guest musicians from a wide variety of musical genres. The Wine, Cheese & Spoken Word series spotlights poets and authors reading from their work and includes an open mic session for local spoken word artists. Occasional evenings of improv provide additional performance opportunities. All upcoming performances are listed on the UUCA Calendar.

AUDIO-VISUAL TEAM

The Audio-Visual Team is a volunteer group that works behind the scenes at all of our Sunday services. They are the backbone of our amazing digital services, and they have carried us through online worship during the pandemic! They set up microphones and run sound, lights, slide shows, streaming, videos, etc. during the service.
