*Engage our congregation in renewing our Values, Vision, Mission and Ends
*Powerful Question:
Building on our resilience, what transformations will we develop and nurture within ourselves, our congregation, and the world?
*Take A Stand: “We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.” https://www.8thprincipleuu.org/background
Executive Report – Rev. Taryn Strauss
The report was posted on Slack so Board members could review prior to the meeting; Taryn went over it.
The Work of the Board- Maureen McAndrews
Decisive Action
Not everyone approved the minutes in Slack. This is something we would like to have done going forward. Maureen will post them shortly after each meeting. Motion to approve the December was made by Maureen, seconded by Jason. Approved.
Report from Finance Trustee – Jason Delaney
Reports are being finalized and have not been approved by the Finance Committee at this time, therefore the Board will approve at a later date.
Good news is that we were successful in making up a planned shortfall for 2020!
Budget
The proposed 2021 budget that will be presented to the congregation for approval was presented and discussed.
Maureen moved to approve; Jason seconded. Approved unanimously.
Capital Campaign Committee – Maureen McAndrews
Final figures:
Capital campaign: $4,232,666 from 283 pledging units
Stewardship: $717,499 from 330 pledging units
Project Phoenix Committee – DeAnn Peterson
A Town Hall was held last week to update the congregation. It’s a busy time right now – 100% drawings are imminent and receipt of the drawings will allow full pricing to be done. Meetings are also being held regarding AV needs and the Columbarium and Memorial Garden designs.
Healthy Relations Committee – John Merkel
The committee is planning a workshop to educate the congregation on the HRC. They have not yet given attention to adding another member to the HRC.
ARAOMC Committee – Allen Lee
No report at this time. Allen has not yet been able to establish the council; no responses were received from people he reached out to. It was expected by the Board that Christian Harden would establish the council. Jennifer will contact Christian for clarification.
ByLaw Committee – Sean Golan
No report at this time.
Nominating Committee – Jen Bain
NC has a vacancy and Anna Apostalou will fill this vacancy at this time and remain on the NC (she’ll be on the slate of officers to be elected in May). Taryn met with the NC and discussed development of a leadership pipeline to help with future nominations.
Closing
Process Observation- Jennifer Thilo
