Laura Beth Brown is thrilled to be joining the staff at UUCA on April 1 as our next Director of Lifespan Religious Education! She is coming from the Metro New York area where she has served 5 congregations in her 18 years as a professional religious educator. Laura Beth is also a UUA certified Interim Religious Educator. Other experience includes creating the online volunteer strategy course, Stop Recruiting Start Retaining, for the UU Leadership Institute, leading her Embracing Family Ministry workshops for UU Ministers and Religious Educators across the country, and consulting with congregations in areas of governance, family ministry, and volunteer strategy.

When she is not “in the office,” Laura Beth is “on the mat.” As a yoga enthusiast for two decades, she has also taught yoga in studios and medical settings for eight years. Her certification as an Off the Mat facilitator, allows her to bridge her love of yoga and Unitarian Universalism by helping students discover their calling in making their communities and world more fair and just. A child-at-heart with a love to laugh, she includes an element of play whenever possible! With a background as a professional singer and performer, Laura Beth also enjoys incorporating music and singing into her work with children and adults.

On a personal note, Laura Beth’s move to Atlanta will put her just a day’s drive from her parents in SE Texas, for which she is deeply grateful. Harley and Quinn, her two cats are less enthusiastic about the move, but Laura Beth trusts they will come around.
