Sunday, June 2nd, 2013  ”endBeginnings” (The Reverend Anthony David)

T. S. Eliot once wrote, “We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” Rev. David returns to the UUCA pulpit after his five-month sabbatical with a story (or three!) about endBeginnings. Come welcome him back!

Sunday, June 9th, 2013 “Missing out?: In Praise of the Unlived Life”  (The Reverend Marti Keller)

This will be Rev. Keller’s final solo worship service during her tenure here at UUCA. She will be using the just published book of essays by psychoanalyst Adam Phillips as the backdrop for  her farewell sharing of a reflection on the notion that we all lead two parallel lives: the one we are  actively living and the one we should have—or might yet have.

Sunday, June 16th, 2013 “Far from the Tree: Parenting Through Unique Challenges” (The Reverends David and Keller)

In the book by the same title, award-winning writer Andrew Solomon investigates how parents deal with raising a child who isn’t what they expected him or her to be. How much does nurture have to do with the people our children become? Or is it more due to nature or genetics that are unchangeable. Join both of our ministers as they explore this profound topic today.

Sunday, June 23rd, 2013 “You are the Light of the World” (The Reverend Josh Noblitt)

In this week when we traditionally remember the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, during which time gay people demonstrated spontaneously against police raids of an inn in Greenwich Village, we welcome an activist minister from a downtown Atlanta congregation.

Rev. Noblitt is Saint Mark’s United Methodist Church’s Minister of Social Justice. As an Ordained United Methodist Deacon, Rev. Noblitt’s specialized ministry involves leading program and volunteer opportunities related to all social justice issues as well as offering counseling and conflict resolution services as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, mediator and mitigation specialist.

Sunday, June 30th, 2013  “Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers”  (The Reverend Anthony David)

Was America founded as a Christian nation? What did George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Frankin and others really believe? Join us for a star-spangled celebration of America’s birthday!
