Having no children of her own, Roz gravitated to the youth of her faith community. She was an active volunteer in our R.E. program back when UUCA was known as the United Liberal Church at North & Boulevard. A bequest she left to the church came with instructions for awarding it to an outstanding graduating senior. Hence, in the mid-1970s, the Reiman Scholarship was born. Roz felt strongly about supporting the youth of our congregation, and believed it important to help them take those first steps confidently into the world as young adults wearing our UU principles and values.

Though that original sum was long ago exhausted, UUCA’s Endowment Fund continues the annual Reiman Scholarship award to this day. 2014’s recipient will be announced this Sunday. Think about the enduring power of this gift of long ago. Paying it forward to further our mission, it’s what our Endowment Fund is all about.
