Children and Youth RE > Programming > Summer Camp SUMMER CAMPS AT UUCARegistration for summer camps begins February 17th for all camps. You can download the camp registration form (MS Word) or sign up online or pick up a form at the Family Information counter in the front lobby. All camps are $100 and from 9am-1pm. Children are to bring a lunch from home.UUCA Summer Camp schedule:June 9th - June 13thInto the Woods .................................9am-1pm (Ages 2 to going into 1st grade) Through imagination and classic fairy tales, travel into the woods to meet such characters as the three bears, Goldilocks, Little Red Ridinghood and Hansel and Gretel as well as birds, bugs, butterflies and plants. Enjoy a Teddy Bears picnic and many art and creative activities for your child to play and discover. Each day includes activity centers, yoga, group time, lunch, and outside play. June 16th - June 20thEarth Camp.................................9am-1pm (Ages 2 to going into 1st grade) Explore the nature around us through activities, feeding the birds, gardening, cooking, yoga, dyeing fabric with natural materials, singing, games and creating art with natural and recycled materials. In addition kids will learn about composting, recycling and caring for our Mother Earth. June 23rd-June 27thPeace Out Camp ................................9am-1pm (Ages 2 to 5) Tie-dye, tambourines, and flower power! Get back to basics with cooking, yoga, dyeing fabric, weaving, drumming, making bead jewelry and dancing to the beat of your own music. Kids will learn about peace and explore ways to spread peace every day! June 23rd-June 27thPeace Out Camp Parent's Morning Out 9am-1pm (Ages 1 and under) Children will have free play, do finger plays, read books, sing, learn basic sign language, dance and do yoga. June 23rd-June 27thCulture Camp .................................9am-1pm (Kids going into 1st grade - 6th grade) Discover the cultures of Costa Rica, South Africa and the People's Republic of China. Kids will explore the different cultures through activities, games, yoga, art, music, dance and cooking. In addition to visiting the Culture of Peace, the children will explore three "peace cultures", cultures where people have made the impossible happen, or are on that path now. Just imagine (if you can): a country that abolished its army and poured the money into education (Costa Rica); an oppressed culture who succeeded in transforming their relationship with their oppressors into a partnership (South Africa); and a living laboratory where the power of peace is the only weapon being used to create peace, liberty and justice for the people of Tibet (People's Republic of China).
AmiguitosUUCA is providing space for the Latin American Association bilingual camp. Camp 1 - June 9 to June 20 Camp 2 - July 14 -July 25 Amiguitos is a two-week Spanish immersion summer program for kids entering kindergarten through 4th grade. Native English-speaking and Spanish-speaking children will work and play together in various educational and fun activities. Educational activities include Spanish language instruction and activities in reading and writing, math, science and social studies. Recreational activities include listening to stories, singing songs, doing art projects and playing together with Spanish-speaking children. All activities will foster friendship and cultural understanding among the children while teaching them basic Spanish language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
