UUCA’S MUSIC MINISTRY

Our mission is to bring musicians of all abilities together to create that which transports us and our listeners into the extraordinary presence of the beautiful and the sacred.

THE UUCA CHOIR

The UUCA Choir is open to all who are willing to commit to weekly rehearsals and the Sunday singing schedule (approximately every other week). While those with reading and music skills are appreciated, the only prerequisites for participation is a pleasant singing voice and the willingness to commit. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Blessed Journey
For Dr. Frost's final service on May 22, 2005, composer N. Grant Pfeifer was commissioned to write a new choral composition on a text written by Dr. Frost. "Blessed Journey" premiered for choir, piano, handbells, and our own Singing Bowl.

THE UUCA RINGERS

UUCA is fortunate to have 3 and a half octaves of beautiful English handbells, and our handbell choir, the UUCA Ringers, rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Ringing experience is preferred, but not required; however, members must be able to read music. Focus will be on solid ringing technique and ensemble. Because of the intimate ensemble nature of ringing, rehearsal attendance is mandatory. Contact Travis Vaughn at tvaughn@uuca.org if you are interested or need more information.

CHILDREN'S CHOIRS

The Chalice Choir (1st grade through 8th grade) and the Rainbow Choir (preschool and kindergarten) rehearse on Wednesdays from 5:45 until 6:30 p.m. Both Choirs sing occasionally for services. For more information on the Rainbow Choir contact Terry Carpenter at tcarpenter@uuca.org. For more information on Chalice Choir, contact Travis Vaughn at tvaughn@uuca.org.

The Children's Handchime Choir (children ages 6 to 11) rehearses on Sunday mornings from 10:20 to 10:50 (between services). For further information, contact Suzanne Sainte Crosse at saintecrosse@comcast.net.

QUARTET UUCA

UUCA is fortunate to enjoy the music of our own in-house advanced vocal ensemble, Quartet UUCA. Sales of the quartet's CDs benefit our Music Ministry.

PROFESSIONAL GUEST ARTISTS

This congregation has a long and proud history of supporting professional musicians from the Atlanta community as well as guest artists from outside our city.

Anyone interested in participating may contact either Terry Carpenter or Travis Vaughn.

UUCA'S ART GALLERY

UUCA's art gallery, located in the passageway around the sanctuary, is the longest continually operating art gallery in Atlanta. It displays work of local artists, including a UUCA members' show and a UUCA children's show once a year. Sales of art benefit UUCA.

Artists interested in showing a body of work may contact the curator, Ruth Gogel, rgogel@uuca.org.
