UUCA'S CITIZENS FOR FIRST FREEDOMS – PROMOTING TOLERANCE AND RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE

Citizens for First Freedoms, founded in 1994, promotes tolerance and rights of conscience in a time of increased and increasing religions and racial intolerance. CFF is part of the wake-up call, to our church, and to the wider body politic, that the very institutions we all depend upon to protect and advance the rights and values we hold dear are under sustained and effective attack by the religious and political enemies of democracy and human rights.

Our primary focus has been to analyze the impact of right-wing religion and politics on the mainstream of American political and religious culture. We believe that the rhetorical strategy of right-wing ideology is to make it appear as though they are trying to protect and advance the very rights they actually seek to limit or rescind. Citizens for First Freedoms seeks to alert the public to an extreme agenda that is cast in reasonable terms, and to inspire activism against it.
