HOW TO BECOME A COVENANT GROUP FACILITATOR Please email Marti Keller at mkeller@uuca.org with your request to become a Covenant Group Facilitator. Covenant Group Facilitator Roles and Responsibilities:At Monthly Group Meetings: - Helps the group develop and maintain its covenant
- Models “process observance” – how well the group follows its covenant – and encourages all to do the same
- Helps the group follow the program structure and guidelines including an annual service project
- Models openness, caring and deep listening
- Is aware of group dynamics
- Maintains shared leadership with all group members
- Encourages participation by all
- Pays attention to group members’ pastoral care needs; passes on information to a minister as appropriate (with the member’s permission)
- Welcomes new members with intention

- Makes sure that the logistics are attended to: location and time of meetings, e-mail or telephone reminders (or shares this responsibility)
- Contacts members who missed the meeting (or shares this responsibility)
- Contacts and welcomes new members upon receiving names from the Coordinating Team
- Attends facilitators’ monthly group meeting/training/session led by Associate Minister.
Additional Privileges and Responsibilities: - Annual one-day (or equivalent) training
- Chance for an opportunity to attend one week of training at Ferry Beach , ME in the summer.
- The love, affection and respect of many members of the congregation who will grow under your leadership and who will return love and affection to you.

- Being Member of Facilitators Covenant Group: 2 hours per month
- Administration, Follow-up, etc. 1 hour per month
Estimated Total 5 hours per month Accountability Facilitators are Lay Ministers in the noblest sense of the word. They hold a very visible and important position of leadership in the congregation. Facilitators agree to act in a professional manner with the utmost integrity, especially regarding issues of confidentiality. Facilitators report to the Associate Minister and will receive periodic (at least semi-annual) individual feedback, support and coaching as well as support and peer support and feedback in their own Covenant Groups that meet monthly. The Associate Minister is responsible for supporting and training Facilitators to ensure that they and other members of the Covenant Groups enjoy safe and satisfying sharing of each other’s spiritual journeys.
