About UUCA > Overview
WHAT DO WE STAND FOR?
Unitarian Universalism is based in the belief of an open mind and evolving insights. We believe that decisions about personal beliefs should come from the individual. Attention to "wisdom" (ancient or modern and sacred or secular) should be accompanied by reflection of personal experience, conscience and reason. Individual Unitarian Universalists might find it easier to understand spiritual issues using different language and metaphors. For example, individual UUs might use Christianity, Judaism, Humanism, New Age theology, modern science, or ancient earth-centered traditions in understanding life.
What brings each to the UU community is a commitment to
- discover what we do believe
- to find ethical and moral principles to guide our lives,
- and to engage in practices that feed our souls and inspire us for careful, responsible living.
