REVEREND ANTHONY DAVID, SENIOR MINISTER (BEGINNING AUG. 2007)

Anthony DavidIn April 2007, Reverend Anthony David was enthusiastically and overwhelmingly called by UUCA to become its next senior minister. A graduate of Meadville Lombard Theological School at the University of Chicago, he most recently served Pathways Unitarian Universalist Church in Southlake, Texas. We look forward to Rev. David's official arrival in our pulpit in September.

Born in Canada, Rev. David grew up in Texas. After earning a Masters in philosophy at Texas A & M, he taught the subject for eight years at Blinn College, in College Station, TX. Anthony and his wife, Laura, discovered Unitarian Universalism in the 1990's when they sought to find a church in which to raise their young daughter. While they first came for their daughter, they stayed because it met their own needs. Anthony became involved in lay leadership and soon found a call to the ministry compelling. Anthony entered seminary on a full academic scholarship, and graduated in 2003 at the top of his class.

Rev. David's ministry is grounded in his conviction that Unitarian Universalism offers a vital, liberal religious community free of dogma and committed to a search for wisdom and peace that sages, saints and wise women and men of all times have sought for and found. The theological pluralism Unitarian Universalism embraces is broad, life-affirming, community-affirming, creative and challenging. UU communities invite people of all walks of life into experiences of freedom and joyfulness, of service and justice-making, of healing and grace. It is a gift worth sharing!

Rev. David delights in time spent with his family, frequenting coffee shops, bookstores, and exploring nature. This Canadian transplant is also an avid ice-skater! After abandoning the sport-and dreams of Olympic competition-following his move to Texas, Rev. David put on his skates again at the urging of his wife. In 2006, Anthony and fellow UU, Diane Platt, won the adult national ice-dancing championship title (silver level).
